The downstream is mainly the various application fields of calcium carbonate, mainly including paper making, coatings, construction, metallurgy and so on.

Since 2000, due to the gradual increase in the demand for calcium carbonate market at home and abroad, and the gradual increase in the price of calcium carbonate, as the main producing area of calcium carbonate in the world, the domestic production of calcium carbonate has also gradually increased. From 2017 to 2019, with the introduction of various policy requirements such as green mines, some small mining enterprises have been shut down for rectification, and the growth rate of domestic calcium carbonate production has slowed down year by year; With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in 2020, the production of coatings, plastics and paper industries has declined to a certain extent, and the production scale of calcium carbonate has also declined compared with that before the epidemic. By 2022, the total output of domestic calcium carbonate products will be about 21.219 million tons, an increase of 6% compared with 2021, but it has not yet recovered to the pre-epidemic level, and the compound growth rate from 2018 to 2022 will be -0.8%.

With the continuous improvement of domestic environmental protection and green mine requirements, small and medium-sized calcium carbonate production enterprises have been shut down, domestic calcium carbonate production capacity will gradually concentrate on the head of enterprises, is expected in the next 5 years, the compound growth rate of domestic calcium carbonate supply scale will recover to about 2%, is expected to 2027, the overall domestic calcium carbonate supply scale will reach about 23.428 million tons.

China is one of the countries with abundant limestone resources in the world, and it is also the country with the largest raw calcium carbonate reserve in the world. With the gradual increase in the application and demand of calcium carbonate in the global paper, rubber, paint and coatings industries, China has also been in the forefront of the world in terms of calcium carbonate exports in recent years.

Since 2018, China's calcium carbonate exports have remained at the level of more than 100,000 tons per year, and exports in 2019 exceeded 120,000 tons, which is the largest export volume in recent years. From 2020 to 2021, with the spread of the global novel coronavirus epidemic, the downstream demand has decreased, and the domestic export of calcium carbonate has declined, but it has recovered to a certain extent in 2022, and the annual export volume of calcium carbonate has reached 107,000 tons and the export amount has exceeded 400 million yuan.

In recent years, China's calcium carbonate imports have been high, showing an increasing trend year by year. In 2020, the amount of domestic imported calcium carbonate will exceed 50,000 tons; By 2022, it will reach about 72,000 tons, an increase of 30.6% compared with 2021 imports. However, the amount of imported calcium carbonate has not changed much in recent years, the growth rate is limited, and the amount of domestic calcium carbonate imports in 2022 is 135.578 million yuan, an increase of about 15%, lower than the growth rate of imports.
