China's population is getting older
Internationally, the proportion of the population aged 60 and above in the total population reaches 10% or the proportion of the population aged 65 and above in the total population reaches 7% as the standard for a country or region to enter the aging society (or senile population). According to the proportion of the population aged 65 and above in the total population reaches 7%, China entered the aging society as early as 2000. The average annual growth rate of the elderly population over 65 years old is 2.8 percent from 1953 to 2020, with the fastest growth rate of 4.7 percent from the sixth to the seventh census. The proportion of people aged 65 or older in the country has also increased from 4.4 percent in 1953 to 13.5 percent in 2020.
When "aging" meets "Fewer children"
With the decline of fertility rate, the family structure of our country has gradually evolved from the traditional family with many children and grandchildren to the nuclear family structure, and the support pressure of the "younger generation" has become greater. By the end of 2021, the dependency ratio of the elderly population aged 65 and above will be 20.8%, that is, every five young people in China need to support at least one old person. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the dependency ratio of the elderly aged 65 and above in China has continued to rise since 2017. And according to the official forecast of aging, the dependency ratio of 65 years old and above will continue to rise in the future.
In addition, China's first-tier cities face related problems are more prominent. According to the "Beijing Aging Cause Development Report 2021", the dependency ratio of the elderly population aged 65 and above in Beijing in 2021 will be 30%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points over the previous year. Consistent with the national data trend, the dependency ratio of the elderly aged 65 and above in Beijing has also shown a continuous upward trend since 2017, and the level of the dependency ratio of the elderly in Beijing has been higher than the national level in the same period.
The emergence and rise of "companion doctor"
Chaperone, the person who accompanies the patient. They are mainly responsible for helping/assisting medical personnel to register, inquire, take medicine, pay fees, take results, pick up and so on. Many of the clients are elderly people living alone, people from other places, pregnant women, single young people and so on. As early as more than ten years ago, the hospital will set up some "escorts" to help and guide the hospital medical difficulties of the population, in recent years, with the intensification of aging and the problem of medical difficulties, individuals and groups on the market to provide escort services.
Taking Beijing area as an example, the main body providing escort services in the market is individuals, followed by groups, institutions and insurance companies. From the perspective of service content, the services provided by individuals, groups, institutions and insurance companies are roughly the same. Among them, institutions and insurance companies can provide more professional and comprehensive services, such as appointment, personalized guidance and medication guidance, due to their large platforms and abundant resources.
From the perspective of service charges, insurance companies classify escort services as insurance products, so they do not charge extra for welfare services, while third-party institutions mostly charge for time, and individuals and groups mostly charge for time, and generally charge more expensive institutions and optional items are more abundant.
From the perspective of user cognition, insurance companies have the highest user cognition, followed by individuals and groups, while institutions have the lowest user awareness. The main reason is that escort service is an emerging industry and there is no good supervision system, so many institutions without strong endorsement cannot be trusted by people. Moreover, when they promote online platforms such as Douyin Kuaishou, they can not be trusted by people. People are also more inclined to pay attention to some individual users' video content, and less attention is paid to institutional advertising type video content.
The future professionalization and standardization of "accompanying doctor"
At present, due to the low entry threshold of the escort service industry and the lack of unified and professional industry norms, the society has constantly disputed the escort service and "escort doctor". Therefore, the introduction of standardized and unified industry standards and policies as soon as possible will greatly promote the implementation of escort services and solve the problem of medical difficulties in a new aging society.
