As an important mineral raw material, kaolin is widely used. In the domestic market, kaolin is mainly used as raw material for ceramics and ceramics. With the continuous development and deepening of research, the application of kaolin in papermaking, rubber, coating, construction and other industries is gradually increasing. At present, kaolin has a high application proportion in the domestic ceramic (enamel) industry, paper industry, coating industry and rubber industry; It is also used in building refractory, medical treatment, new energy, daily chemical and other fields.
The upstream of kaolin industrial chain is mainly Kaolin mineral resources, mineral resources exploration, mining equipment and other industries; The middle reaches of the industrial chain are kaolin products processing industry; The downstream industries are mainly ceramics, papermaking, coating and other industries, among which ceramics and papermaking are the largest downstream demand markets for kaolin in China, accounting for more than 80% of the demand for kaolin in China.
Through investigation, there are many genetic types of kaolin deposits in China, of which hard kaolin accounts for about 55.6% of the total proved reserves, mainly distributed in North China, northeast, northwest and other northern regions, such as Datong, Shanxi, Daqingshan, Inner Mongolia, etc; Soft kaolin accounts for about 19% of the total proved reserves, mainly distributed in Jiangxi, Hunan, Jiangsu and other provinces, such as Jingdezhen, Hunan Jiepai, Jiangsu Suzhou, etc; Sandy kaolin accounts for about 25.4% of the proved reserves, mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and other southeast coastal provinces, such as Maoming, Fujian Longyan, Guangxi Hepu, etc.

At present, 819 proven Kaolin mineral occurrences in China are mainly distributed in East China, South China and central China, including 119 in Fujian Province and 112 in Jiangxi Province, accounting for 14.5% and 13.7% of the total number of mineral occurrences in China respectively.
From the perspective of policies: since the 13th five year plan, the state has focused on encouraging the deepening of non-metallic mining industries such as kaolin, which will guide the industry to develop in a green and intelligent direction in the future; At the same time, in the guidance on promoting steady growth, adjusting structure and increasing benefits of the building materials industry (2016), the finishing, surface modification and application technologies of kaolin ore are listed as key technologies that need to be promoted in the field of raw materials industry.
The domestic kaolin market is relatively mature, but the finishing system is not complete at present. According to the Research Report on domestic Kaolin Industry issued by CMRC Zhongyan Century Consulting, the resources of Kaolin Market are unevenly distributed, with South China and central China accounting for more than 80% in total. The main application industries are ceramics and other non finishing industries.
